Looks like I need to have a word with the garage that did my MOT and service! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought a 2013 Honda Civic from here in August 2021, which at the time had done around 60,000 miles. I remember noticing shortly after purchasing it that the brakes were a little bit squeaky, but didn't think anything of it. As I've only done 4000 miles since I bought it, I rarely noticed it (especially as it couldn't be heard with the windows up). I recently took the car in for an interim service and MOT. This car cost me an extra £500 or so because it had to have both rear tyres replaced, and both front & rear brake discs & pads replaced. I assumed that these things would have been addressed before making the car available to sell, and at the very least I feel that I should have been told at the time of purchase that these things would need to be replaced soon. A more frequent user of the car could've easily driven the car 4000 miles in the first few months and had to replace these things a lot earlier, or worse. If I'd known these things were nearing the end of their lifetime, I would've considered other options. Not happy at all! A1 Carriages Reply: We are sorry to hear you have paid out for tyres and brakes on your vehicle, however it is difficult for us too comment on the condition of the parts after they have been changed, we have looked at the last MOT you had done on the 1st September 2022, if you could look at the following information from the government MOT website "Date tested: 1 September 2022: PASS: Mileage 64,256 miles: 2 September 2023 Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories): Front Brake disc worn, but not excessively (1.1.14 (a) (i)) Rear Brake disc worn, but not excessively (1.1.14 (a) (i)) Nearside Rear Tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing (5.2.3 (d) (ii)) Offside Rear Tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing (5.2.3 (d) (ii))" This information is freely available from the Government website, all of the items listed are minor advisories and the vehicle passed the MOT test, we hope this information helps understand why we did not change the above items when you purchased the vehicle on the 6th September 2021"
